Obertauern invites adventure-seekers to the extreme sport highlight of the summer on 8th July 2017
It’s hard, dirty and lots of fun. On 8th July 2017 the biggest obstacle course in Austria will take place, the x cross run mountain event in Obertauern. Anyone who covers the 9.2 kilometres at an altitude of 380 metres and 14 obstacles and is still wearing clean clothes must have cheated on the way or taken a shortcut. Runners can choose to complete one or two rounds with a total length of 18.4 kilometres.
Under the motto “Are you strong enough?”, participants can expect mud puddles, ice-cold pools, net obstacles, water slides, straw pyramids, climbing obstacles and much more – the creativity of the organisers is impressive. To judge by the photos and videos from earlier runs, there seems to be nothing better for the participants than diving into muddy pits and clambering over car tyres. After all, when does an adult ever have the opportunity to get dirty from top to bottom?
The first x cross run with 1,000 participants took place in 2011 on Vienna’s Donauinsel. It has since become the largest adventure run in Austria and goes on tour throughout the country each summer. Obertauern will certainly justify its reputation as a hot spot for spectacular events in summer as well. The fun factor is huge for spectators as well because many teams line up at the start in eccentric costumes to prove themselves against a spectacular mountain backdrop.
For journalists interested to participate in the run, please contact email@example.com. Registration is possible until 30 June 2017. Due to limited capacity, we operate on a first come, first served basis. Be quick and join the fun!
